Thomas Botkin and LeAnne Ries met when their children were young and have been friends for more than a decade with many an afternoon coffee to discuss the challenges and joys of parenthood; toy storage, art projects, music lessons, books and generally, how to maneuver through the kid years. When their kids became teenagers, life sped up and their friendship moved to a back burner. Recently, they caught up, reflecting upon memories of those early years. This art installation explores the idea that any attempt to locate the origin of identity or history, inevitably finds itself dependent on visual and linguistic conditions, conditions that despite our best efforts, fragment and change with time.
