YMS Reboot

re·boot: verb restart or revive; give fresh impetus to.

We did it! Through the efforts of our members, volunteers, and supporters, Yakima Maker Space went through a successful Reboot!  The entire space has been overhauled, making room for cleaner, more focused work areas, a functional gallery space, and a woodshop and workroom that is well-lit, tuned up and ready to roll.  Paint on the walls, new trim details in many areas, lightning fast wi-fi installed, and more - all to make sure that there is a place in the heart of downtown Yakima that is dedicated and equipped to foster the creative spirit of this great community.

Our celebration party on Saturday, Dec. 3rd, was a chance to open the doors and give our community a chance to see what Yakima Maker Space is all about - and the community turned out in style!  We were aided by our friends Jen and Navid of Planes on Paper, who played a standing-room-only concert featuring new music, and given wonderful support from local makers at Bale Breakers Brewing Co., Yakima Craft Brewing Co., and JB Neufeld.  A team of high-energy volunteers helped give tours, take pictures, guide some maker activities and generally keep the peace.  Our hard-working board members put in more hours than is polite to say to bring the event together.  It all paid off, and we all enjoyed a really great evening.

Take a look at some of the pictures of the renovated space and some of the great moments from Saturday night.  Thanks again to everyone who came out and enjoyed yourselves.  We are here for the benefit of the Yakima valley, so please consider joining as a member and/or giving a tax-deductible gift to support our work and mission!
