Learn the Cedar Strip Method and build your own Nomad 17 this winter and spring!

A 17' tripping canoe, perfect for exploring the waters of the Pacific Northwest with a friend and all the gear you need for a weekend away.  The Nomad is long, sleek, easy to plank and easier to paddle.  It is built with wood strips and epoxy, producing a classic and beautiful wood canoe.

Our Wilderness Nomad Canoe build continues over the next couple of months!  All hulls are nearly complete and we are moving on to fairing and lots of sanding!  Epoxy and fiberglass are just around the corner!  Come down and see the progress as our builders get closer to realizing their dreams of canoeing adventures.

The Maker Space provides the space, tools, and camaraderie but we also buy all the materials and save some money in the process. We offer our co-build for less than it costs to purchase and build a kit on your own.

Think you might be ready to take on a project like this?  We will be starting up another co-build class this summer!  Drop us an e-mail and let us know if you are interested.

Why co-build?
Building a boat is challenging and rewarding experience that takes time and patience. Boats are big projects that will develop new skills for each builder.  They are also big enough to benefit from extra hands nearby to help out when needed.

We've found that taking on a big project like this with others working alongside greatly increases your chances of seeing it through to completion.  The mutual help and support provided is essential.  You'll make some friends along the way and enjoy an experience of community while bringing a new canoe into the world!
