Introduction to Quilting - Quilted Tote
Instructor: Lynn Holt
The first session of this class will provide an Introduction to Sewing segment. This session will be especially helpful to those who do not have a working knowledge of sewing and sewing machines (or have limited experience), and/or who need instruction on rotary cutting tools and safety. We will complete simple sewing practices during this session to familiarize everyone with our machines.
The next 3 sessions will focus on quilting basics and constructing a lined, quilted tote bag using the “quilt-as-you-go” method. Focus will be on fabrics, quilting rules and tools, basic quilt design, and rotary cutting. Students will learn how to sew a tote with boxed corners, construct straps, insert lining, and finish the tote.
Sewing machines are provided, and all materials are included in the cost of the class - 100% cotton premium quilt shop quality fabric, lining, thread, and batting. Various fabric kits will be available.
