What is a Creative District?

  • Fri, July 16, 2021
  • 6:00 PM - 7:30 PM
  • Collab Coffee & Yakima Maker Space - S.T.E.A.M. Engine

A Creative District is a fun place to live, work, and visit. It is a geographically defined area in your city that is recognized by the state to promote cultural and the economic activity that comes from creative enterprises.

Yakima Maker Space and Collaboration Coffee will host a community conversation about what a creative district would look like in downtown Yakima. Heath Lambe will give a brief overview of what the Yakima Art Commission does and some of its opportunities for artists, give a short presentation on what a creative district might look like, and then start a community conversation about the project.

All are welcome, but we are focused on getting support from local Artist. E.g. painters, sculptures, ceramic, fiber artists, etc.  Please come tell us what your needs are to be successful and we can work out how a creative district might be just the thing.
