Summer Ceramics Camp - Ages 14+*3 Sessions

Learn all the basics of pottery in 3 days. 

Day 1: Pinch pot method - Start with a ball of clay and your fingers. Pinch and shape to create bowls or cups. Hollow out the center and smooth the walls. (30 mins.)  

Coil Building- Roll out snake-like coils and stack them to create a pot. Learn about the importance of score and slip for a strong bond. (1 hour)

Slab Building- Roll out flat sheets of clay and cut them into pieces. Assemble using scoring and slipping. Experiment with texture and shape for unique designs. (2.5 hours)

Day 2: Wheel throwing. 

Day 3: Learn how to trim your pots, cup, or bowls. Learn all about underglazing to create decorative designs on your work.

Yakima Maker Space will fire all of your work.  You can then sign up for a final glazing class- usually on Saturdays. This class will be $15 for non-members and $10 for members.
